SPC vs. LVT Flooring: Which Is Right for You?

While both SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) and LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile) are popular vinyl flooring options, they have distinct differences in structure and performance. SPC flooring is tougher, more waterproof, and better suited for high-traffic or wet areas, whereas LVT is softer underfoot and often more budget-friendly.

SPC Vinyl Flooring:

Core: Rigid, made from limestone powder and plastic for superior stability.
Thickness: Thicker than LVT, improving insulation and noise reduction.
Durability: Extremely resistant to dents, scratches, and heavy use.
Waterproof: Fully waterproof—perfect for bathrooms, kitchens, and basements.
Comfort: Firmer underfoot, though some styles include cushioned underlay.
Price: Typically higher cost than LVT.

LVT Flooring:

Core: Flexible vinyl for a softer, more forgiving feel.
Thickness: Thinner than SPC, with less sound dampening.
Durability: Strong but less resistant to heavy impacts.
Water Resistance: Handles moisture well but can warp if submerged.
Comfort: More comfortable underfoot due to its flexible core.
Price: Usually more affordable than SPC.
